NOBODY CAN HOLD US DOWN

On November 9, 2016, a most bizarre election season culminated in a most shocking result, as Donald Trump was elected as the next President of the United States.

The aftermath shook a great majority of Americans, as this election, perhaps more than any other, seemed decided on the basis of ideology, social issues and values, progress, and party affiliation more than policy.

Gender issues took center stage in this election as well, more than any other, due to the fact that a known misogynist and "man's man" was pitted against the first true female presidential candidate the United States had ever known. The Trump lost the popular vote by historic margins, the choice that was made has forced many Americans to look far deeper at the race, gender, and ideological issues that undercut this decision.

This section provides a wide array of articles concerning the role of gender in Clinton's campaign, service record, and loss.

For example, mistrust and dishonesty charges were key red herrings thrown by Donald Trump, and much of Hilary's opposition, both informed and uninformed. Did her femininity, and the ingrained stereotype of women as deceitful, flawed, and power hungry, aid in the unbridled consumption of this idea, which, according to many experts, contributed greatly to her loss?

Do you believe that gendered leadership played a role in the outcome of the election? In what ways?
